| Description |
| In the old days, 'es coc' meant 'the cook' in the Catalán language. An apt name today for Es Coc Restaurant, recently inaugurated in the small, quiet town of Santanyí. Its chef and owner, Marc Vidal tells the story: 'For many years I had a dream, a vision to open up a gourmet restaurant in Santanyí. This house was built in the 1920s and belonged to my grandmother. The family lived downstairs on the ground floor and upstairs was used as a warehouse. The house has been totally refurbished, at the same time we have tried to conserve as much as possible of the original style of the house.' So with care, love and dedication, Marc has created an elegant, informal and homely space where dinner guests can enjoy good food. Marc comments: 'At Es Coc I try to update and refine the traditional Mallorcan recipes, as well as introduce ingredients that are popularly used today.' |
